HR Odyssey - From Mountains of Paper to Building Dream Workplaces

My HR journey began, like many, in the trenches. I worked in education where a line manager, drowning in staffing needs, delegated some of their responsibilities, and that is how I ‘fell’ into the world of HR.

​

Back then, managing staff meant mountains of paper – a far cry from the sleek people management systems we have today. It may sound funny now, but that initial spark ignited a passion for bringing order out of chaos in the world of HR – and I became a true HR Chaos Whisperer and a digitalisation expert.

​

Since then, years of experience and a couple of HR qualifications under my belt solidified my love for supporting businesses. I don't just write policies; I build robust HR functions, from recruitment and onboarding to payroll and strategic people processes. My digitalisation expertise helps businesses streamline their HR operations for a smoother workflow.

Working in Education: A Compliance Beast! Let me tell you, navigating the education sector's compliance landscape is like wrestling a…well, let's just say it's complex! Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is paramount, and I became somewhat of an expert during my time there. HR in education is unique; you wear multiple hats – employment law expert and champion for vulnerable groups.

More recently, I found myself in the Empowering Individuals whirlwind! My passion for people extends beyond supporting individuals as part of HR for Business. Friends and colleagues often tapped into my expertise for navigating workplace dilemmas, from tricky contracts to interpersonal conflicts. Helping them distinguish real concerns from perceived issues empowered them to resolve workplace problems and find happiness in their employment relationship, even if it meant moving on to a new one. And that is how HR for Individuals was born!

And finally, Filling the Gap! The HR Business Connect Hub: Witnessing the lack of resources for business leaders seeking HR support, where there is no platform they can use to find the right HR partner, was a wake-up call. So, I did what any passionate HR professional would do – I built a bridge! The HR Business Connect Hub, housed within Access All HR, is more than a platform; it's a vibrant community. HR professionals showcase their expertise, and business leaders find the support they need for their organisations to flourish.
